If you’re going to do an event — a fundraiser, a launch, an employee appreciation event –make it remarkable and memorable. Like Seth Godin says with his Purple Cow. This means be creative, do something a little bit different. Make it unique. You have the opportunity to transport participants, guests, users, outside of their daily lives.

To mark the arrival of the Samsung Instinct into stores today for their network, Telus held a small promotional event at College Park here in Toronto. The public was invited to visit and try their hand at using a giant slingshot to try and fire an old cellphone at a recycling bin.

Mississauga, ON-based Samsung Electronics Canada will promote the release of its new Instinct smartphone today by inviting Torontonians to load their current cell phones into a slingshot and shoot 'em into a recycling bin.
